Limbo

limbo-game-art.jpg

Check out the breathtaking sample animation and concept art for a new video game called Limbo. It’s being developed by designer Arnt Jensen (Hitman 2, Freedom Fighters). It looks like a Tim Burton version of a modern Mario Brothers.

I can’t wait to play it.

Line Rider

LineRider.jpg

Here’s a great time waster I found on DeviantArt. Line Rider is more of an online toy than a game, there are no goals (except maybe keeping your sledder alive) and no score. You simply draw a line, or a bunch of them, and watch as a sledding character rides your doodle. I don’t know much about who designed it, but it’s loads of fun.

NBC/Genworth Treasure Challenge

Genworth-treasure-challenge.jpg

I suppose we all have a bit of explorer/adventurer in us, and NBC is challenging that side of us with an online treasure hunt.

Based on NBC’s new show Treasure Hunters, you can visit the site and participate in 8 online challenges that give you clues to where the treasure ($100,000) is “buried.”

This is how it works: during episodes of Treasure Hunters, you go to the site to navigate your way through a hunt for the weekly clue. Successful completion of each weekly segment will reveal clues designed to help you solve a final puzzle.

You may go to the site at any time during the challenge to play, but new game segments will only be available during/after the episode that aired that week. When you have solved the final puzzle correctly and provided the other information requested, you will be entered into the grand prize winner random drawing.

This is a fun online promotion, and it was put together well. So far the challenges have been fun, and not too terribly difficult to solve. Give it a shot.

Absolut Bottle Search

ablosut_search_game.jpg

I’m not a big drinker. In fact I’m a pretty cheap date, one glass of wine and I’m done. But my intolerance for alcohol consumption aside, Absolut has a created a fun little game true to their bottle campaign that lets you play “Where’s Waldo” with the Absolut bottle… only there’s 82 Waldo’s bottles.

I found 49 bottles in the 2 minutes alloted, with a bit of frantic random clicking. See how many you can find.

Monkey Lander

Monkey-Lander.jpg

Here’s a fun time waster free online game for you. In Monkey Lander, you control, you guessed it, a monkey who happens to be piloting a flying saucer. Your goal is to collect food, bonuses and fuel, and then land on a flying saucer port funny-looking striped line, all before you run out of gas.

Good times, good times.

Pacman Reimagined

pakman.jpg

I just ran across this really cool Pacman-esque game designed by an agency in the Netherlands. You don’t need to understand the language to enjoy the great interactive design.

This Flash based game, sponsored by Suit Supply, is Pacman reinvented with a super hero who must rescue the damsel in distress and save the day.

Each level gives you the opportunity to win real prizes from Suit Supply, like a tie, shirt and even a suit.

Give it a try.

Fancy Pants

Here’s a fun time waster to start your week off right.

Fancy Pants is an addictive Flash based game developed by Armor Games. It’s sort of a cross between Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog. In Fancy Pants you control a stick figure with cool hair and, well, fancy pants. You race through levels collecting stuff and avoiding spiders and angry penguins. I like that you can walk up walls and jump off of them as you try to get to higher levels.

Did I mention it’s free?

Funky Truck 4WD Game

mousebreaker.jpg

I’ve had a pretty busy week. So, it’s nice to take a break and play some online games. For me it’s “research”.

Funky Truck is a fun and free flash based game where you try to drive a truck up and over some crazy terrain without flipping it on its back.

Have fun.

McEvil Corporation

evil-mcdonalds.jpg

Some talented Italian interactive designers developed this flash based game where you run every facet of McDonalds. You’re in charge of production, raising the cows on deforested land and bribing nutritionists to say the food is healthy. The main goal being to convey the evil that they feel for the Golden Arches.

It’s a very involved, well developed and very addictive free game. In light of recent news, you should check it out.

Lego Star Wars Demo

LEGO-WARS.jpg

How fun is this? Aspyr has created “LEGO Star Wars: The Bricks That Bind a Galaxy”, a video game where you save the galaxy as LEGO versions of your favorite Star Wars characters. A new Mac demo was just released. If you like it, and how could you not, you can buy it from the Apple Store for $29.95.

Here are some tips, tricks and cheats to help you through the game.
