MacWorld Banners Are Up

MacWorld 08 Banner

CNET and AppleInsider have some pics posted of the banners hanging in the Moscone Center. They vaguely state “There’s something in the air.”

Is it referring to something wireless or cellular? Or, perhaps it’s just a clever marketing line meant to get us excited. We’ll just have to wait until Tuesday to see.

MacWorld 2008

macworld_banner.jpg

I’m fortunate enough to be attending MacWorld 2008 (Jan. 14-18) and I’ll be covering all the news like the rabid Mac geek that I am. This year promises to be a lot of fun and will hopefully feature some great new technology from everyone’s favorite (or at least mine) software/hardware developer.

This will be one of the biggest conferences in history, with over 50k registrants. That’s a lot of nerds for just two city blocks! If you’re lucky enough to be attending this year too, here’s a quick map to the nearby Starbucks. See all the important information you’ll find here?

If you’ve never been to a MacWorld before, the pinnacle of excitement is the keynote delivered by Steve Jobs. That’s when uncle Stevie announces all the new Apple goodies for the year, and the companies stock reacts accordingly. The keynote really is fun to attend, as Steve is one of the best presenters I’ve ever seen. Check out the 2007 MacWorld keynote, complete with the iPhone announcement, to see what I mean.

In case you can’t tell, I’m excited to be attending, and I’ll do my best to feature all the great new tech right here for your geeking pleasure.

MacWorld Begins

Although tomorrow is the official Keynote, some of the MacWorld sessions began today. For those of you who are not fortunate enough to attend, I’ll do my best to post any nuggets of knowledge that I gleen from todays Power Tools lectures.

I’m specifically focusing on any updates or tips and tricks using programs I find myself in all the time, like Flash and Final Cut Pro.

Stay tuned…

Macworld 07

I’m lucky enough to get to go to the Macworld/Flashforward conference and I’ve been looking forward to it for a few days now. The graphic above is from Apple’s site and it’s doing a good job of feeding my excitement.

His Steveness is sure to announce something that I won’t be able to resist. If you’re not able to make it, don’t fret, I’ll cover all the good stuff here. But if you can’t wait for me to calm down enough to type, Engadget typically covers the Keynote live. If you’re among the lucky ones attending the Apple geek Mecca, I’ll see you there.

Back From Paradise

If you’re ever able to take a two week vacation, you’ve got to do it. After two weeks in the southern Caribbean, my reset button has been hit.

I went on the cruise to unplug. I left my laptop, my blackberry, even my cell phone behind. And boy, did it work. I’m a new man. Ready to take on the world…well, maybe after a good nap.

Every port we visited was beautiful, but Antigua was by far my favorite. This paradise island sits just miles from Montserrat. It has some amazing topography and the bluest water I’ve ever seen. They only thing that separates me from waking up to that sunrise every morning is a few million dollars. Did I mention you can make donations to joeyinteractive? I’d be happy to blog full time from those gorgeous shores.

Our final port of call was Disney’s private island Castaway Cay. It was spectacular. And in true synergistic style, they’ve anchored The Flying Dutchman from “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” just off shore. Pretty cool prop.

Joey Is Not Here

You may have noticed I haven’t been posting as much this month. No, I’m not over blogging, I’ve just been really busy with some cool interactive projects. It’s been fun work, but I need a vacation. So, I’m taking one.

I’m off on an 11-night southern Caribbean cruise. I can’t wait, this will be the longest vacation I’ve ever taken, two weeks of sun and fun. When I get back I’ll have lots of photography to share from the cruise, and I’ll post some of the work that’s kept me so busy.

I should have some stuff up on Oct. 2nd. Until then Bon Voyage!

Off To Los Angeles

travel-to-ca.jpg

I’m traveling to L.A. for the week to begin production on a mini-site for Disney. So this weeks posts will be coming from the west coast.

Going Home

My conference is over and I’m headed for home. Ah, home sweet home.

If you’re ever in or around the L.A./Beverly Hills area, you should check out Sprinkles Cupcakes. These designer cupcakes are worth the trip. Or, if you don’t have time to visit the store, they will deliver in and around the L.A. area. But, they need 24 hours notice.

Try the dark chocolate or the black and white cupcakes.

Off To California

My jet-set life work has me traveling to Burbank for the rest of the week. So my next few post will be from the west coast.

Snowboarding Trip

I have been anxiously anticipating this vacation. And, at last, it’s here. I’m on my way to Virginia for a week of recharging and snowboarding.

I have a feeling that my next few posts will have something to do with winter sports.
